How do I celebrate Bruce Springsteen’s birthday? Well, the kids and I wake up early to open presents, then we go around the neighborhood caroling Brucemas songs while wishing everyone a Merry Brucemas! Just like most families really.
I am often asked what Brucemas Carols we sing, here are a few:
God Rest Ye, Merry E Street Band
I’m Dreaming Of A Bruce Springsteen
Patti, the Red-Headed Reindeer
The Mighty Little Drummer Boy
Unto Us A Boy Is Born to Run
Darkness on the Edge of the Little Town of Bethlehem
I Saw Mommy Kissing Jon Landau
The food! Oh the food we enjoy on Brucemas Day!
We adults celebrate with Tequila and Jersey Apple Juice cocktails: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Feel free to make 2 to 3 drinks at once. Pour in the tequila, apple juice, honey simple syrup and cinnamon. Put on the lid and shake the cocktail for about 20 seconds.
Everyone enjoys the delicacy of ham sandwiches on white bread with cheese, lettuce and a lot of mayonnaise. No mustard ever because as decreed by Bruce, “don’t give me no f—ing Grey Poupon!”
So, Merry Brucemas one and all! Share your Brucemas Carols and traditions in the comments below! We love ya!
